In 2010 the AIA Middle East Chapter was created to extend the services of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) to its members practicing in the MENA region, and uphold the high standard of design, education and professional practice among its members. The AIA Middle East aims to strengthen ties between AIA, regional architects and governments in the region. It provides a conduit for communication and support from AIA, American Associations and fellow overseas members, as well as offer a means for local recognition of credentials and professional experience.
AIA Middle East currently has nearly 500 members in the MENA. We have an active presence in the MENA region with representatives in MENA countries, promoting good practice and providing continuing education opportunities, lectures, conferences and an annual awards program. We seek local institutional and events partnerships to engage in the architecture and design dialogue in the region. We have student chapters at NAAB accredited universities, promoting joint activities.
